You know your job is good when you don’t mind working while on vacation. It’s even better when you have no choice but to kick off your shoes and roll around in the sand and the surf. :)
Last week, we were in Cape May for an awesome week with my family, and my brother’s family (I can’t even begin to look at my own pictures yet, but perhaps sometime I’ll get them edited and posted!), and while I was there, I was so lucky to take some time out of my vacation to work with an old friend that I haven’t seen since high school and her adorable boys, and see how much a little newborn I worked with last year had grown into a big and beautiful one year old!
Be prepared for picture overload–I love all the opportunities the beach provides for all those little documentary detail shots that just aren’t necessarily possible at a park, like sand on fingers and messy toes.

And look how much Ava has grown up from the last time I saw her!

Interested in a beach session? Last summer call: I am considering traveling to the Avalon or Cape May area for one more weekend in September. If you may be interested having portraits taken and soaking up that last little bit of summer, please contact me ASAP. Your travel fee will be waived as long as you’re staying in one of the southern New Jersey shore points.

Ah, mid February! Spring is right around the corner (or so I keep telling myself!) and soon we’ll be thinking about warm weather, kids getting out of school and summer vacation. Actually, if you’re anything like me, you might actually be glancing through the vacation rentals now. ;)
Last year, while we were on vacation in Cape May, I met a local family in Ocean City for a really awesome beach session. This year, I’d be thrilled to work with another family wherever you’re vacationing (seriously–we’re not married to one beach in particular, and if we can make it work the same week you’re on vacation, we’ll do it). Beach sessions are not for those looking to all wear white shirts and blue jeans and pose perfectly in front of a sand dune: Instead, we’ll capture those relaxed and playful moments of your family–you know, those special moments of happiness that only happen when you’re breathing in salt air, listening to sea gulls and the crash of the waves, knowing that the piles of laundry and to-do work is sitting miles away…
