announcing fall & holiday mini sessions | pennsylvania photographer

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. to be photographed outside!

Back by popular demand, (seriously–I’ve already got quite a few people booked! :) I’m happy to announce my fall and holiday mini session collections for ‘09. I’m not quite done rounding up my new line of holiday cards from my designers yet, but those will be forthcoming shortly, and, as always, sure to impress everyone on your list! (You know you get classy press-printed-on-heavy-cardstock, professionally-designed cards from me. These are definitely not something you can pick up at your local Target!)

This year, I wanted to get a head start on the fall color and make sure I was wrapped up with these sessions well before the weather becomes unpredictable, so, this year’s sessions will begin on October 1st and go through November 15th. But, as always, availability is limited. I encourage you to book early to make sure you’re a part of this very popular event!

Just like in years’ past, your mini session is not rushed or hurried as the next client waits impatiently over your shoulder. Your children and family are given plenty of time for your session: I’ve done the cramped mall studios right before the holidays, and I’ve certainly seen my share of frustrated and frazzled parents trying to get that perfect shot of their little ones in front of the tree. These sessions give you a wonderful opportunity to play with your children and capture real, authentic and beautiful portraits of your kids and family during the colorful and beautiful fall season–portraits that will remain timeless well beyond your tree coming down and all the returns being made.

To book your session, please contact me at 610.223.9700 or email me at jennifer@jenniferbretonphotography.com.

oh baby! | pennsylvania newborn photographer

Last weekend, I was so lucky to be a part of a small workshop with two of America’s most noted newborn photographers. I learned some amazing tips and techniques, both with working with and posing newborns, but also creating beautiful color and black & white portraits. Since I’m working on catching up editing client sessions, I couldn’t edit too many images from the workshop as of yet, but here are a few portraits that I was just dying to blog that I took during our instruction and edited on the plane on the way home.

Suffice to say, I can’t wait for my next newborn session to try out some of my new tips and tricks.

Skipping off to Skippack today… | Montgomery County Photographer

But not for pictures–as much as I love shooting there. If you’re looking for some fun things to do with your kiddos today, the Skippack Summertyme Festival features pony rides, moon bounces, a magic show, games, yummy summer treats and much more! Come and visit the Jennifer Breton Photography tent, say hi, and enter for a chance for a cool $250 gift certificate, and also receive some summer session savings exclusive to people who stop by my tent.

The festival is today only, from 10-4. Give me a call at 610-223-9700 if you can’t find me.

And just in case you’re curious, walking is the standard mode of transportation around Skippack, and curiously, not skipping, as my 6 year old pointed out. :)

Email problems | Reading & Berks County Children’s Photographer

Unfortunately, I have discovered that I have been some email problems and have missed some messages from people trying to reach me. I think the problem is limited to people who have tried to reach me through the contact forms on my website and blog, but I am not entirely sure as of right now if that is the only source of the problem.

If you have sent me an email message and I have not responded to you, please accept my sincerest apologies. Unless I am on vacation or am dealing with an emergency, I make every effort to return your email message within 48 business hours.

If I have missed your email, kindly give me a call and I will be pleased to chat with you by phone. 610-223-9700.

Thank you so much for your understanding.

xox,
Jen

Back for the third year by popular demand…

Announcing beach sessions | New Jersey Shore Photographer

Ah, mid February! Spring is right around the corner (or so I keep telling myself!) and soon we’ll be thinking about warm weather, kids getting out of school and summer vacation. Actually, if you’re anything like me, you might actually be glancing through the vacation rentals now. ;)

Last year, while we were on vacation in Cape May, I met a local family in Ocean City for a really awesome beach session. This year, I’d be thrilled to work with another family wherever you’re vacationing (seriously–we’re not married to one beach in particular, and if we can make it work the same week you’re on vacation, we’ll do it). Beach sessions are not for those looking to all wear white shirts and blue jeans and pose perfectly in front of a sand dune: Instead, we’ll capture those relaxed and playful moments of your family–you know, those special moments of happiness that only happen when you’re breathing in salt air, listening to sea gulls and the crash of the waves, knowing that the piles of laundry and to-do work is sitting miles away…

If interested, contact me at 610-223-9700 or by email at jennifer@jenniferbretonphotography.com

Secret’s out: Meet Bridgette. My new assistant! | Reading & Berks County Children’s Photographer

Isn’t she pretty? (Compliment her–she loves them. :)

Bridgette is one of my oldest and best friends, and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to work with her since, um, 1993, when we last worked together at the MOM mall in Morgantown. So since I need a little part-time help, I hired her. :) She has a creative eye and over ten years’ experience in decorating and will be a wonderful help for clients looking to do wall displays around their homes. Additionally, Bridgette will be immediately in charge of all framing services and print and product ordering and packaging. In time, she may be handling some scheduling and helping clients prepare for their sessions, as well as working closely with clients through the ordering process. I’m excited to introduce you to her.

1. Three shows you won’t miss on TV this fall? Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Lost

2. Your favorite picture you’ve taken this past month? My 2 new kitties (Starbuck and Boomer) sitting in front of the screen door.

3. On your iPod? You should ask what is not on my iPod. If I start listing the 650 songs, I’ll be here all day!

4. Favorite site on the web? But of course, Jennifer Breton Photography, the blog!! (But if I were not sucking up, the Huffington Post.)

5. Most important issue in the election? (Just one) Sorry, there isn’t just one.

6. First car? Pontiac 1,000. It was hot!

7. Favorite thing to cook or bake? Cookies. I usually bake 1,000 to 1,500 at Christmas.

8. Your house is on fire. All living things are safely rescued. You have one thing to safely grab. What is it? Jen won’t believe this because she knows I like my stuff, but I really won’t grab anything. I’m attached to my memories and no things.

9. Favorite childhood memory? In 1977, I was 7 and I went to my aunt and uncle’s farm in West Virginia with my great-grandmother, grandparents and Aunt Melissa (she’s only a few years older than me). Even though Melissa made me hold a dead snake to take a picture; sit on a cow, which threw me off; and had me swing on vines 6 feet off the ground over a creek, I loved it! I learned to milk cows, churn butter and had to use an outhouse!

10. One thing that people find interesting about you? I’m multi-faceted, I love Martha Stewart and also Howard Stern. I’m really into primping myself, but I’ll go out in my garden in my barefeet and dig in the dirt without gloves. That’s just a few things about me!

You can reach Bridgette by calling 610-223-9700 or by email at: bridgette@jenniferbretonphotography.com

Community UCC Preschool Portraits | Reading & Berks County Children’s Photographer

Thankfully, the weather forecast looks great for Monday and Tuesday. Unless we would suddenly get an unforecasted rainshower, parents/guardians should expect that their children will be photographed these two days. Wednesday is slightly questionable, but as long as the ground is dry and there is no rain, we will be taking your children’s portraits. I will update on Tuesday evening as the forecast becomes clearer.

Thanks to all who are participating! I look forward to meeting and photographing your children.

**Tuesday evening update: Whew! It’s looking like the rain that was forecasted for Wednesday morning will be holding off until the evening. As of right now, it certainly looks like we’ll be able to get everyone photographed. Just in case it would suddenly start to rain during Wednesday’s classes and we would not be able to photograph all the students, your child’s teacher will provide you with rain date information at pickup.

Thanks again to everyone!
