Julia & Alan 6.12.09 | Reading & Berks County Wedding Photographer

During a rainy, rainy week, Julia & Alan brought the sun out full force on a beautiful Friday afternoon for their wedding celebration–actually maybe they parted the clouds a bit too much. :) The day started off rainy, and then began to brighten once the rain ended. At noon, there was a thin layer of clouds covering the sky–absolutely perfect for outdoor photography, I thought to myself excitedly as I began to get my gear together and get ready for their wedding. By the time we met at three, though, there was full force sun, and beautiful puffy clouds that never really seemed to cover the sun–definitely not great photography weather, but amazing wedding weather, especially considering the wet afternoons we’ve had all week before and since. It’s just a guess, but I think they were truly feeling the power of their prayers for a dry wedding. :)

To a couple who’s obviously devoted to each other and deeply in love: Many, many thanks to both of you, and much love and congratulations as you begin your new life together!

Amy & Jimmy {married} | Reading & Berks County Wedding Photographer

On what was the most beautiful day thus far of 2009, Amy & Jimmy tied the knot, while Amy’s stomach also tied itself in knots. If you’re expecting a story of a nervous bride, I only wish that was the tale to tell. Unfortunately, instead, Amy’s family was hit hard by a virus the weekend of Easter, and as much as she thought she was in the clear by mid week when we met to go over a few final details, the virus reared its ugly head the night of her wedding rehearsal, leaving her feeling sick her entire wedding day.

Despite all that, Amy & Jimmy had a wonderful day, and Amy mustered through looking beautiful and radiant. And while I’m sure Jimmy wasn’t expecting the “in sickness” promise of his wedding vows to begin so soon, he did a great job of taking care of his new bride and his guests.

Much love and many congrats to you guys on the beginning your journey as husband & wife! May it be filled with many blessings and much happiness–and health!

Just a few for now…

Amy + Jimmy = engaged | Reading & Berks County Engagement Photographer

This morning started out pretty chilly as I took Amy & Jimmy into Reading for an e-shoot. At this point, it’d be very cliche of me to tell you how they heated things up, so I’ll avoid the cheese and just jump right into the images… :)

Mike of Ash Imagery, my wedding assistant, came along. It’s always so much fun and inspiring working with him. I’m sure he’ll have some killer images up on his blog soon.

Thanks Jimmy & Amy! You guys were awesome and I can’t wait for your big day in a month. Best wishes with your final preparations!

126 days into wedded bliss, here’s a look at the day that began it all…

I have to admit I’m very torn on whether to continue doing weddings. They’re terribly stressful, and hey, we’ve got three kids who are all now getting into “stuff” that happens on weekends, and I’d hate to miss that. But I gotta admit, each one I do, the more I fall in love with them. Since I primarily work with babies, toddlers and preschoolers, there’s not much direction you can necessarily give kids those ages. But brides and grooms? All together a different story. And Carrie & Jim? I think if I would have told them to climb a tree for a fantastic shot, they would have done it. :)

Let’s just put it this way: About half an hour into the six-hours I worked with them yesterday, I didn’t actually feel like I was working. Instead, I actually felt like a privileged guest and an old friend. What an *amazing* day they had. Here are a few that I pulled to blog when uploading the pictures this morning.

Congrats, Carrie & Jim! Blessings to you always!

Last minute touches on the vows…

…and the makeup

Carrie handmade everything–the menus, the table numbers, the place settings and the wedding programs…

Right before the ceremony…

A part of the service that was particularly moving involved them holding hands.

We joked about doing this shot earlier in the week…

The Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge hosted the wedding and reception. It was just gorgeous at the time of year…

Usually the mother-son dances are these emotionally-filled, sappy slow songs. Jim and his mom (who’s in better shape than I am) had other ideas. Is it wrong to admit that a few other shots (not here) are poorly in focus because I was dancing right along with them? ;)

Jim receiving his first (er, actually second, LOL) scolding of the evening as Carrie’s new husband…

Special thanks again to Mike Smith of Ash Imagery for assisting me…

Going to the chapel… | Montgomery County Engagement Photographer

And they’re going to get married…. on Saturday. (Hmmmm… Doesn’t sound as good outloud as it did in my head. ;)

This is Carrie & Jim. I love them because he’s an artist and she’s an amateur photographer, and I’m always tickled when creative people want to hire me. It’s a huge compliment. But an even bigger compliment when they hire me for their big day. We met today to go over some last minute details, and did a brief little mini e-session.

Look for a few images from their wedding this weekend (and cross your fingers that the rain stays away!)

Best of luck with your last minute wedding preparations! See you guys on Saturday! :)

Michael Smith of Ash Imagery–a talented artist and unique wedding and fashion photog in Barto–asked me to assist shooting during Brendan’s & Cherie’s wedding this past weekend.

You know it’s a fun wedding when the girls are smoking cigars and the guys are holding bouquets.

Here are a few other favorites from the day…

Drew & Kelly’s slideshow

You know how they always come out with the coolest things after you’ve already been married or had a baby? Aren’t these presentation boxes just gorgeous? Therein lies 500 5×7 images from my first wedding, and what I hope will give Drew & Kelly lasting memories for the rest of their lives.

And their slideshow: please click

(quality’s a bit reduced.) Enjoy!
