One of the awesomest (yes, it’s a word, no matter what my spell check says) parts of my job this past year has been meeting quite a few new additions to families I’ve worked with in the past. Emily is the little sister of Ava, who I photographed both as a newborn and also last summer at the beach. (You can see her sessions here and here.)

Now I know that few hours I spend photographing newborns doesn’t really say everything about their personality or temperament, but Ava was one of the easiest babies to date that I’ve ever worked with. So knowing how different my kids were/are from one another, I was totally expecting a more challenging session with Emily thinking that no family ever gets *that* lucky to have two easy-going babies. To my pleasant surprise, Emily was as much of a photographer’s dream as her sister. Perhaps there’s something extra special in their DNA that makes such agreeable and beautiful babies!

Congrats again, Joey & Kelli! All my best to you and much, much love.

Silver white winters that melt into springs…

Really, after the winter we had this past year, is it NOT anyone’s favorite thing this year? :) What a treat to spend the morning outside yesterday with baby Cole and his parents on such a gorgeous spring day.

By the way, since I wound up moving so many of my spring mini sessions clients to the earlier part of the month due to the fabulous weather we had in early April, I have 1-2 sessions that opened up for early to mid May. Please call me ASAP if you may be interested in a spring mini! 610.223.9700

Mother Nature and I became friends again a few days ago.

It isn’t just the *gorgeous* weather this past week; it’s the fact that she finally allowed me to get this session completed. This family contacted me in early January wanting to mark their son’s first birthday with an outdoor session. “Not a problem,” I told them; “We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and get you scheduled on a mild winter weekend.” And then we got snow. Lots and lots of snow. And lots and lots of cold days. (Like I need to tell you this.) And the weeks went by, and I started to get nervous that our winter session was going to turn into a summer session; but then, as if the calendar officially saying spring was enough, Mother Nature warmed us up and gave us this amazing, picture-perfect photography weather.

I’d say they looked like they enjoyed the weather, too, huh?

With the hubby turning 40 this Saturday and our family having quite a full plate of life, the baby factory here is now closed. Even though I always yearned for four kids, just a few weeks ago, I did finally slowly start to part with all of the baby things that I’ve accumulated through the years, and I have surprised myself by feeling at peace with the finality of us being a family of five.

And then a smiley, happy, gurgly, charming, beautiful, blue-eyed 4-month old baby came to the studio.

And now, parting with those cute little roll top (dry rotting) baby socks is starting to feel not so cleansing anymore.

His sister I’ve photographed before and is always one of my favorite little girls. Now, she’s an amazing big sister:

Whew! 27 sessions over 4 weeks. I was blessed working with such amazing families during one of the most beautiful times of the year. Granted, the scenery is gorgeous, but put once you add in some well-dressed and adorable kids? Ah, it’s a recipe for beautiful portraits!

Here’s a peek; one from each session. (And believe it or not, I’m shooting one more this week, so I’ll just have to add his in later this upcoming week. ;)

I’ve been really lucky this year to photograph so many twins (and a set of triplets, too!)–I think these sweet little guys may have been my sixth set this year, but my first set of identicals. I’m not sure Joe and me are parents who are cut out to be parents of multiples (especially if we had two Isaacs–oy!), but I sure do love working with twins and imagining how awesome it would be to grow up with a buddy who shares your same great looks and the same age. What a cool thing that would be.

Two weeks doesn’t mean much to most of us. It’s a rather short and mostly insignificant period of time. Yet, for Maggie, she owes her very existence to two weeks: Born at 26 weeks’ gestation, if Maggie would have arrived two weeks earlier, she probably wouldn’t have been able to survive, much less thrive and grow into the strong, beautiful 14 month old she is today.

Truly, a Miraculous Maggie. :)

Really, I can’t imagine having three kids under the age of three–and all of them boys to boot! I have a feeling they will all be the best of friends growing up, but in the meantime, I’m sure you may want to pass along the coffee (and probably a sprinkle of patience) to their blessed parents!
