oh baby! | pennsylvania newborn photographer

Last weekend, I was so lucky to be a part of a small workshop with two of America’s most noted newborn photographers. I learned some amazing tips and techniques, both with working with and posing newborns, but also creating beautiful color and black & white portraits. Since I’m working on catching up editing client sessions, I couldn’t edit too many images from the workshop as of yet, but here are a few portraits that I was just dying to blog that I took during our instruction and edited on the plane on the way home.

Suffice to say, I can’t wait for my next newborn session to try out some of my new tips and tricks.

I stumbled upon your blog when searching for a friend named Breton. Your work is beautiful!
It’s funny though I was looking at this post and I said to myself “Hey, that’s Carrie’s log!!!!” HAHA
I heart baby as art!

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Yes, this workshop was conducted by the amazing Carrie Sandoval and Brittany Woodall. An honor to meet and study under them.

Jen – Your work was amazing before, but these shots are just incredible. It’s great that you are constantly learning and expanding your knowledge with your art. When/if we have baby #2 I’ll be sure to give you a call. I treasure the portraits you took of Nick.

Thanks guys! Rosemary, that was shot with my 50mm f/1.4. Usually my go-to lens for indoor newborn work, along with the 100mm macro.

Oh my gosh, I am green with envy that you got to go to that workshop! It looks like you got some wonderful shots. Would you mind sharing what lens you used for the last one? It’s pure magic!

It makes me want to have another baby just so I could hire you for the pictures. :)

STUNNING!!! A photographer friend of mine (that linked me to your blog) and I have been dying to attend that class but the August 1-day was cancelled. We are definitely missing out! I love your composition of these poses & the exposure & white balance is perfection! Can’t wait to see more of your newborn work!
