I’ve been photographing Grayson during his first year as part of my first year collection, and I’ll be so sad to not see him regularly every few months. He’s been such a joy to watch grow and change, and I have a feeling that he’s going to keep his mom & dad quite busy over the next few years!
Happy first birthday (well, a little belated ;), Grayson! Thanks for sharing him with me J&R!

Oh how I love a scrunchy-faced smile on a beautiful baby!

Just in case you were wondering if I ever have non-cooperative children to photograph, the answer is “of course.” But honestly, I can probably only count on one hand the number of kids who have scared me into thinking that it might be the first time that I pack up my gear and say, “Sorry. It’s just not going to happen.”
Welllllllllllllllll…… today was one of those days–almost. :) Thankfully, we figured out a few things about Miss Ella before we called it quits, primarily that she would prefer not to sit on grass or a blanket on grass for a photo session, thankyouverymuch; and she’ll take her bottle, heated.
So after the first half of the session sweating it out and crossing every finger and toe on my body, you can fully imagine my delight to get this:

Now that’s a beautiful baby sitting on wood with a full belly of warm milk. ;)

Oh, how I love brown-eyed beauties with lengthy lashes…

And also one of my favorite little girls to photograph is becoming a big sister! Can you see how thrilled she is? *wink*

Isn’t her mommy gorgeous?

Congrats in advance J&G! I can’t wait to meet your new bundle soon! Best wishes for a smooth and easy L&D. All my best…
Although this is the first time I can *ever* remember turning on the air conditioning in my house in April (wasn’t I just running the heat a few days ago?), I could not have asked for better weather for mini sessions. You may remember Bella from a session done all the way back in November of ‘07 (she’s up in my blog header slideshow, laying with her parents in the leaves). However, “O” and his parents I just had the pleasure of meeting, and I was so impressed they held onto their gift certificate from the time he was born until now, waiting until their little guy was the perfect age for photographs. I gotta admit that I really, really love 9 month olds–truly one of the best ages for portraits!

I hadn’t really planned to share any of the images from this week’s mini session event until I was done with all of the sessions, but I loved these shots just as soon as I captured them, and, well, I have a few minutes before this morning’s sessions begin (and I know her mom is anxiously waiting)…
Much love and many blessings today, Hayley. :)

On what was the most beautiful day thus far of 2009, Amy & Jimmy tied the knot, while Amy’s stomach also tied itself in knots. If you’re expecting a story of a nervous bride, I only wish that was the tale to tell. Unfortunately, instead, Amy’s family was hit hard by a virus the weekend of Easter, and as much as she thought she was in the clear by mid week when we met to go over a few final details, the virus reared its ugly head the night of her wedding rehearsal, leaving her feeling sick her entire wedding day.
Despite all that, Amy & Jimmy had a wonderful day, and Amy mustered through looking beautiful and radiant. And while I’m sure Jimmy wasn’t expecting the “in sickness” promise of his wedding vows to begin so soon, he did a great job of taking care of his new bride and his guests.
Much love and many congrats to you guys on the beginning your journey as husband & wife! May it be filled with many blessings and much happiness–and health!
Just a few for now…

I got a cute one of all three of my kiddos. All who suffer from extreme PCS (photographer’s child syndrome), causing major aversion to lenses being pointed at them. Must have gone in remission with the promise of Easter candy the following morning. ;)

I hope you enjoy the new blog!
It’s not often that I get a request for a studio-style session–and in all b&w to boot!–but my dear clients (who I have worked with twice before and who are moving south *sniff*) wanted a few images of their sweet baby to match their older daughter’s pictures taken at the same age. And thus, out came the black background and the studio lights. :)
As you can tell, she made me work really hard for the beautiful, big smiles.
I will sadly miss them when they leave. They have been wonderful people to get to know with the kindest hearts and gentlest souls. You can just simply tell how much joy they put into their girls. I love photographing them just as much as I love hanging out with them during our sessions, and will definitely miss them after they move.
Best wishes, guys.
